A blow to today's birding.

I had thought of going up to Soil Hill to play chase the baseball cap, while holding on to the toupee, this morning, but with the unusually strong gale I tinned out and did the crossword instead.

I struggled a bit with 4 down - Type of fish used in salad(4).

I got the answer eventually once I'd found the D and the A : dead.

After lunch the wind had died down a bit so I had a walk up the local fields.

A hovering Kestrel that was struggling a bit, gave up and landed on a fence post for a breather.

Other than the Kestrel just a few Common Gulls and a Rook were in the company of a deviously hidden Little Owl.

Late afternoon Sue dropped Abi back home to Heckmondwike and I scrounged a lift to Coach Road, Lightcliffe, to continue my futile search for a L.S.W.

After 3 or 4 strides (or so it seemed) Sue was back from Hecky to pick me up again!

2 Redwing, 2 Nuthatch, Bullfinch and a few common Tit species helped me pass the time.

No Woody Wpecks seen (or heard).
