Eggs Benedict with a Barnacle Dip for afters!!

We tried out a new café (to us) with a run over to Mount Tabor and a visit to The Spring Head for brunch.

A café, restaurant,  pub and farm shop all rolled into one.

We tried Eggs Benedict which is 2 poached Eggs and bacon on a Muffin with some gooey stuff on top - yummy.

After brunch we took a diversion, going home via Fly Flats to check if B.S's sighting of 3 Barnacle Geese were still there  - reported this morning via DJS.

Just bins and camera today (really need a scope here) looking long distance from the main road.

We parked on the top road and I had a scan about.

I could not pull out any Barnacle Geese from the few groups of Canada Geese here.

I took some speculative photos hoping I might get something on the laptop - but no joy.

So .... my mediocre twitching record continues...

I also took some long distance photos of Cold Edge Dams from the road.

Many Canada Geese with a few Greylag here but no Barnacle.

A couple of duck sp. that I cannot ID from the photo.

Later on I had a walk from home through Crabtree Hall Farm, Ned Hill Lane,

Ned Hill Track, Soil Hill (top only), Percy Road and Taylor Lane  to home.

The really strong wind kyboshed the Soil Hill job completely.

Birds:-

Canada Geese - Fly Flats.

7 Greylag Geese- Wainstalls. (1st this year in Calderdale for me).

3 Greylag Geese - Cold Edge Dams.

Many Canada Geese - Cold Edge Dams.

Bradshaw - Soil Hill Walk:

Mega Quiet.

Little Owl.

Common Gulls.

Herring Gull.

A very white Gull, miles off in the glare, is probably a Blacked Headed Gull.

Rook.

Goldfinch.

4 Stock Doves.

Nothing much in the wind on Soil Hill top.

Probably a few more birds seen - but I lost the will to live on Soil Hill.

One of those days I'm afraid... The brunch** was great though.

Highly recommended** (Jonny 5 bellies).

Wainstalls - Fields.
