It was a pretty grim morning in Bradshaw, this morning with strong winds, drizzle and poor visibility.
On the Costa del Brighouse, though, it was like being another world, calm with a few bits of light drizzle.
I had the usual walk along the canal and river from Elland.
Sue had arranged to pick me up, after visiting her old boss, so I had to get my skates on.
There is always something of interest along this walk.
A pr. of Teal were seen by Mick near the weir but they "avoided" me!
But I did pick out a second pr. of Teal as I was searching for Snipe from the little bench near the lagoon.
A Little Grebe was heard with its high pitched call/song and then seen briefly before it dived and vamoosed. The photo is rubbish!
Lots of Birds on the Ski-Lake, a large gang of Canada Geese and some good Gull numbers all obscured by the fencing.
Also on here were 2 F Goldeneye, on the far dull side water, constantly diving and luckily for me an Oystercatcher was seen on top of the near side banking before disappearing out of sight below it.
Birds:-
7 Mute Swan.
Song Thrush.
3M 5F Goosander.
9 Cormorant.
A very light coloured Treecreeper on the far canal side - and a shocking photo alas - but as I pressed the shutter button, I was in the way of a passing cyclist apparently.
Herons nesting - 3 seen others obscured by the trees no doubt.
Pr. Grey Wagtail.
Pr. Teal.
2 F. Goldeneye.
Herring, Common, Black Headed and a few Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
And a first this year Oystercatcher.
Goldcrest.
Siskin high in the dark tree tops.
and some others.
I was feeling a tad off, so I went to see the doc, the other day.
He gave me red pills, yellow pills and green pills to take daily.
He said Red pill in the morning with a large glass of water.
Yellow pill after lunch with a large glass of water.
Green pill after tea with a large glass of water.
I said "what on earth is wrong with me?" .
He replied "Those pills are Smarties - You a not drinking enough water".
