Monday 30/01/23.
A good journey on a sunny day but much more traffic down here, moving a lot faster than at home.
After settling in at a nice hotel we enjoyed a late afternoon walk along the Thames River footpath.
2 kestrel seen on the way down and a count of the Red Kites seen on the day arrived at 26!!
Along the path people were feeding Geese , Swans and Gulls.
Many, many Mute Swan, Canada Geese , Greylag Geese and mostly small Gulls with a few Herring Gulls
3 Cormorant over and a Great Crested Grebe on the water
We crossed the river on a very noisy flood defence bridge (I think) where one or two Grey Wagtail were flying about.
Tuesday 31/01/23.
Thames path t'other way.
6 or Egyptian Geese seen today (semi-plastic) with the hoards of other Geese, Greylag and Canadas and Mute Swans.
I had some time alone to go through the hundreds of Black Headed Gulls looking for a Med variety.
99% B.H.G. 3 Herring Gull. 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull. 1 Common Gull but the Gulls moving frequently, to catch a particular bread lobbers at the time, were difficult to pin down.
No Meds, just one Black Headed with a silver leg ring.
No Meds, just one Black Headed with a silver leg ring.
Mostly the same bird sp. as yesterday.
A decent trip home today (Wednesday) with no rain until just after Nottingham.
Pouring down at home alas.
