A grotty morning walking back home from Queensbury garage after dropping my car off.
Thick fog and drizzle, especially through Mountain.
I had an early morning doctors appointment but this was cancelled 30 minutes before I was due to arrive there.
Later on I enjoyed a walk up the local fields, where not a lot was happening, but I did nab a 2023 tick in the shape of a Wheatear - although the bird was way, way down the bottom of the 2nd horse field.
This sighting was 10 days earlier than my last year sighting, which was a nice surprise.
A Buzzard flew overhead, that I mistook for a Crow, till the penny dropped, and then I only manged a distant photo or two of it!
Later DJB reported seeing an Osprey over Soil Hill so I put my poor Buzzard photos out - just in case!!!
Thanks to all the comments regarding the photos, it's always good to get feedback.
Like I thought in the 1st place my bird was a Buzzard Boo-Hoo.
We had our café fix mid-afternoon , sharing a jam and cream scone, yummy, at Shibden Park Café, and I had a short butchers hook while Sue waited in the café.
Birds:-
Local Fields:
Wheatear.
2 Little Owl.
3 Mallard.
Buzzard.
6 or so Meadow Pipit - seemed very skittish - probably brought down by the fog.
Loads and loads of Corvids hereabouts - mostly Jackdaws and Carrion Crows with a good few Magpie.
(Cannot say that this quantity of Corvids will do the smaller birds much good come nesting time).
Shibden Park:
Usual Crew plus a singing / calling Chiffchaff.
2 Nuthatch.
2 Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Evening Sky Watch:
2 Buzzard flew over the house around tea-time as I was cleaning me boots.
A Peregrine Falcon was seen along the way.
