Loads of Snow (Deepest in 25 yrs here)

Snow shifting all morning with a sky full of snow landing on the deck during the night.

It was the deepest snow I can remember on the driveway in the last 25 years or so.

After lunch I had the bright idea to walk up to and around Soil Hill (Top).

The snow here was over me wellybobs.

Some kind soul had already been up the main track, possibly DJB? and he had left some footprints to follow.

Pity he takes massive steps compared to my wee ones - only fell twice though, which was ok.

Lots of great scenery up here with magic snow patterns created by the drifts.

Taylor Lane was blocked at the bottom but a tractor had reverted it to tarmac higher up.

It was good to talk to Diane at the bottom of Taylor Lane, who was trying to shift enough snow to get her car out.

Her dog was enjoying the snow, big time.

I went up Soil Hill main track and turned left at the quarry to go over the apex and then along Ned Hill Track, Percy Rd and Taylor Lane.

Birds:-

Tough to come by (unless you plummet down the north side - then tougher still!!).

Walk:

2 Wren.

4 Stock Dove.

One call heard on Soil Hill sounded Curlew (ish) - the call was not repeated alas.

Pheasant, Carrion Crow, Woodpigeon.

1 Common Gull over the covered reservoir.

Goldcrest by Laverock Hall (?) Farm.

Garden:

A pr. Buzzard over Oats Royd a.m.

A Buzzard was seen on a pylon along Bradshaw Lane p.m.

A Kestrel over the house p.m.

      **************************************************

5 or 6 Large Birds (Swan or Goose sp.) were high, distant over Halifax > N towards me p.m.

I tried for a photo but failed miserably.

Then I couldn't locate them in the bins again - quelle bizarre !!!

(Next I stubbed out my Whizz-bang cheroot docker that Jimi Hendrix gave me in 1968 but I still couldn't see 'em).
