Sowerby Bridge To Hebden Bridge / Local

We enjoyed a non-birding walk along the canal, late morning - early afternoon, from Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge. A cool, dull day, a lot colder than yesterday out of the sun.

We stopped for lunch at the excellent Blue Teapot cafĂ© in Mytholmroyd.

I'm not a big veggie fan but after looking at the 'ordinary' jock and comparing it to some of the veggie dishes, I opted for a veggie curry (with an exotic name) which was realty excellent.

A more traditional pud though - lemon sponge and custard.

No camera or bins today but a few birds did appear and there was loads of Warblers singing.

(I missed the Brearley Barnacle Goose - if it was still there!).

Birds:-

3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers (2 heard and one that flew a yard above my head).

Heron trying out its wings for a future flight.

A lot of Jackdaws flying erratically - Sparrowhawk was the culprit.

A Buzzard high, drifted SE

Local:

Not a lot ..

Kestrel, 3 Swallow, 2 Meadow Pipit, Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Not many Butterflies seen.

A big nasty looking fly type, looked like it could give me grief?

4 Swallow seen from the garden.
