Ogden to Home / Bingley Red Kite

We enjoyed a morning out with a short walk along the canal near Bingley 5 rise locks with friends.

Later we enjoyed some lunch in the excellent small café there.

While we were saying "ta ta" a Red Kite flew over head.

Sue dropped me at Ogden on our way past so I could do some birding and walk home.

It was great to call at the , now open, visitors centre café and have a chat with 2 of the

lady volunteers. Not sure of the days when the café will be open though.

A cloud burst had me struggle to get my waterproof trousers on.

Putting the waterproofs on is a sure fired way to stop the rain - and it worked.

A bit of a grunt up to Soil Hill via Ned Hill Lane with the weather warming up this afternoon and most of the gear now back in the pack.

I just kept to the main Soil Hill tracks and home via Taylor Lane.

Birds:-

2 Black Headed Gull, 2 Heron, 12 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Mallard.

(A few larger Mallard Duckings have escaped the Heron gluttons).

3 Tufted Duck, 2 Oystercatcher.

Grey Wagtail, Nuthatch, Willow Warbler, Jay.

2 Pheasant, Whitethroat, Chaffinch, Goldfinch. Dunnock.

6 Stock Doves, Swallow, Meadow Pipit, 3 Skylark, Swift.

2 Linnet.

Little Owl. Canada Geese.
