Ogden - Wet

I enjoyed a run out to Ogden this afternoon (after some shopping this morning) while Sue went to pick up Abi from school at Heckmondwike.

A bit 'drippy' to start with but quite wet to finish in a strong breeze.

It was good to bump into BS on the circuit and also DJS in the car park, just as I was leaving.

Just the usual Gulls here as far as I could tell, but the Gull numbers are on the increase.

The Black Headed Gull contingent included a Juv.

Mallard.

6 Tufted Duck was a good count for here.

2 Noisy Oystercatcher.

3 Heron flushed from the east side to squawk as they moved to the west side.

As I rounded the N.E. corner a Common Sandpiper scuttled along the water's edge, soon to be followed by a second Common Sandpiper.

The Common Sandpipers are very small birds that always seem bigger.

Don't know if the colouring, stance or constant bobbing that gives the impression of size.

Common Sandpipers are good birds for Ogden - then again any Wader is a good bird for Ogden these days.

With the rain pouring down I brought just my small camera today, after my last , very wet experience , with my Nikon ruined it!

BIG Herring Gull presumably.

Both Sandpipers.
