Old Hartley Nr. Whitley Bay Day 2

We enjoyed a walk from Seaton Sluice to Whitley Bay (breakfast bap in Wetherspoons) and back with a diversion to St Marys lighthouse today. A fair old hike.

Warm and sunny this morning with the wind picking up in the afternoon and some heavy showers after tea.

Birds:-

Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Kestrel.

Whitethroat, Redshank, Eider Duck, Med. Gull.

Curlew, Oystercatcher, Fulmar, Kitiwake.

Distant Dunlin or Golden Plover(or both).

A few Common and Sandwich Terns.

C20 Dolphins together... later 2 Dolphins passed the caravan site.

2 or 3 large birds were jumping up in the long grass in among cows.

They also called but with the distance and  the long grass

completely hiding them we had no chance of ID'ing them ... they

were brown ... possibly young Pheasants? but they seemed

quite "large and dumpy"... a right old mystery.

Not sure on the ID of this Gull?

Probably an Eider Duck.

Golden Plovers
(Looking very Dunlin liks - to me anyway!).
