White Holme Reservoir.
I had a run over to White Holme Reservoir this morning, hoping not to get too wet.
It was cloudy with some light drizzle as I started along the good track and I made in half way around the west side of the reservoir before some wetter stuff arrived.
2 Torrential cloudbursts came along as I sheltered behind the large stone inspection structure, this kept me fairly dry.
My timing was a bit out on the return journey as I was trying to make it back to the car between showers. This nearly worked with the next heavy stuff not arriving until 10 minutes or so from dry land.
As I legged it back, a solitary Curlew was calling as it landed. I got a couple of poor distant photos.
Later it flew past but I dare not risk pointing the camera at it with the rain bouncing off me 'ed!
Birds:
I was hoping for a passing Tern species but the skies were free of Gulls, Terns and Raptors.
2 Carrion Crow, 2 Pied Wagtail, 14 Greylag Geese (one White-ish) one.
At least 4 Wheatear zipping about.
10 Swift > north.
2 Swallow.
c15 Meadow Pipit.
1 Curlew.
An enjoyable outing , even given the long drive out there.
Bradshaw Fields:
I had a short dry stroll up the locals fields this afternoon.
Birds:
Little Owl.
c80 Crow types included a few Rook.
Linnets, Meadow Pipits and Goldfinch in 'larger' numbers than of late but all very flighty.
c40 Woodpigeon, 6 Swallow.
(I had a scan for DJS's large White Bird but could only find LBB Gulls in the sky).
7 or so Swallow seen from the garden with a few Gulls.
White Holme Reservoir.
