Yesterday:
After returning from Bridlington Wednesday afternoon I just had time for a short garden sky watch and a short walk up the local fields.
A Fox was in one of the fields.
Birds:-
Buzzard calling flew south over Oats Royd.
2 Little Owl, Green Woodpecker, 4 Stock Dove.
6 Swallow, Pheasant.
2 Holly Blue Butterflies in the garden.
Today:
Ogden Area to Bradshaw - Tough going again.
A day of two halves, cold with mist and drizzle this morning and a welcome breeze with sunshine this afternoon.
A longish trudge this afternoon, around Ogden Water and past the golf club house to looked for Redstart (and failing again).
My back says it might be an evening to sit outside with a beer.
In between a really enjoyable natter in the Ogden café while I noshed on some calorie free crisps, chocolate and coffee - amazing food.
Home was via Brookhouse, Field Head Lane, Per Lane, Cowhillgate Lane, Ingham Lane & Bradshaw Park.
Birds:-
A very sad looking (probably) Lesser Black-backed Gull was being attacked by a Cormorant and not putting up much of a fight - unusual for Large Gulls, they can normally give as good as they get!
The Gull retreated to the near banking where it sat nearly motionless throughout my visit.
Top of the shop, on a "poor hair day", was a distant Little Grebe.
As I got nearer to where the Grebe had been, it must have entered it's Tardis and left because I never saw it again - that's Little Grebe's all over , that is!
A Tufted Duck was asleep throughout (mostly).
Other Birds:
1 Common Gull, 7 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, c20 Black Headed Gulls and 2 Herring Gulls at one point.
A few Canada Geese with the Mallards.
When I heard some high-pitched 'different' calls , I turned on my Merlin app. and Siskin were reported - probably 2 birds here.
A hungry Buzzard called from the NW side.
Kestrel over the golf course - nothing much else which is odd.
16 or so Swallow seen today.
2 Moorhen near Bradshaw Park (inc. 1 Juv).
Coal Tit.
Small White Butterfly.
