Another Bus Adventure and Local Fields This Evening

Today looked like being the best day of the week so we strolled down Bradshaw Lane to the Church and caught the 10:10 502 bus to Keighley.

A bright and breezy day, very warm in the sunshine, cool in any drafty shade though.
I had some coffee, toast and marmalade for elevenses in 'Spoons' before we caught the K2 bus to Haworth station and we enjoyed a walk along the very picturesque stream to Oxenhope station.
The K3 was next ( if I've got my K numbers right) and this took us to Hebden Bridge.
After a short wander here, we walked along the canal to the excellent Blue Cafe at Mytholmroyd.
Toasted Teacake and a scone for lunch (we know how to live) before waiting at the nearby bus stop.

However - buses don not stop at this bus stop, one passed and shook it's head (well the driver did). It's an ordinary bus stop so why is it there??
We legged it back one stop to wait 20 minutes outside the Dusty Miller where busses do stop at bus stops.

A bus from town to Illingworth and a walk home brought the afternoon to a close.
A cheap day out for an old fogy.

Only a small camera and no bins today to keep the weight down.

Birds:

While we were eating lunch outside the Blue Teapot in the sun a Duck whizzed past.
It had a white neck band and looked grey elsewhere - an odd-ball Mallard according to Mark via the grapevine - thanks Mark.

Haworth to Oxenhope:

Jay and Heron.
Orange / Brown caterpillar.
Red Admiral Butterfly.

Hebden Bridge to Mytholmroyd:

Sparrowhawk,
Good to see a few Pied Wagtails about.

A few other species.

Evening Stroll:

Usual late evening stroll up the local fields:

c20 Gulls in a nearby field (16 Common and 4 Black Headed).
15 Small Gulls more distant.
Just a few Lesser Black-backed Gull > W.
2 Little Owl calling.
Pheasant.
2 Red Legged Partridge - distant and then they flushed so -  more distant!
1 Mistle Thrush.
A few Meadow Pipits.
