Burnsall / Local Fields

Another scorcher today, 27 deg. or so.

Abi is back to school on Wednesday so we took her to Burnsall as a treat, with some paddling in the river and some ball whacking with a rounders bat.

I remember coming to 'The Field' yonks ago and giving a couple of quid to an old guy sat on a chair by the field gate.

How things have changed. Now you drive up to the "IN" electronic barrier and it opens automatically. Leaving, you tap your card, when leaving, on a gizmo in the wall, fork out £10 and the "OUT" barrier opens automatically.

The toilet block is superb though and the weather was great. Pity everyone and his / her dog thought the same as us - probably 300 + cars here by 3p.,m. when we left to have a look at the Grassington shops.

Birds:-

No birding at Burnsall but I was lucky to chance upon 5 Red Kite soaring over a mown field on the way there.

Bradshaw:

The local fields were quiet late evening, with the cows too close to venture through all the fields.

2 Little Owl called.

A Common Gull was still feeding close to dark.

C 75 Birds on a wire - Linnet presumably.

A Red Legged Partridge, sat on a wall, was being inspected by a nearby Fox.

When the Fox saw me it vamoosed, which was nice to see as well.

A Butterfly in the garden, that I'll have a look up in my wee book later.
