We took Abi and her mum to have lunch in The Beach pub next to Hollingworth Lake this afternoon.
After some enjoyable scran Abi volunteered to push Emma around the lake and a shirt wetting experience it was it the very hot sunshine.
The place was very busy with all manner of water craft floating about and swimmers / paddlers and dogs taking to the water.
Some kids were in the water with the large contingent of Canada Geese and Mallard, near the bread lobber area , which did not seem a good idea (to me anyway).
I did keep half an eye out on the way round and took a few photos.
Late evening I had a walk up the local fields until darkness (and boredom) drove me home.
Birds:
Hollingworth Lake.
"Usual Gulls" by the looks of it - although they were all distant so who knows??
Little Egret - could have been 2 Egrets with a large white 'blob' just visible through thick foliage near the birders hut.
Heron, Cormorant, Pied Wagtail.
A few Teal (seen).
Probably much more here - I did not do it justice today really.
Local:
Little Owl.
1 Mistle Thrush.
Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Kestrel.
A Green Woodpecker called once very loudly from close by.
A Tawny Owl was calling last 'night' at 1.30am as we lay awake waiting for a breeze to cool the bedroom!
