A great find of a Great Northern Diver by LD and PD at Ringstone had me chomping at the bit but it was too late on Friday to go all the way over there and on Saturday we were tied up with Abi and Emma all day.
This afternoon, however, we had a visit to Soyland and 'we' took the opportunity to visit Ringstone Reservoir.
I did not hold out much hope for the Diver - it was probably continuing it's journey.
Sue thought I was bonkers as I set off along the reservoir wall with the rain firing across from my left.
It "poured" down all the way to the north end and all the way back again and I looked a sorry sight as I got back to the car.
It was difficult to see anything clearly but just a few Gulls and a few Mallard were on the water.
Quite a large flock of Lapwing were with more Gulls, Starlings and Jackdaw in the sodden
north end field.
The 'highlight' of the outing was 2 Snipe that flushed early on - away high and quick NW ish - too quick for a photo.
The Gulls included at least one Lesser Black-backed Gull.
No Diver species seen.
Other stuff:
A Mistle Thrush was seen from the garden earlier.
c30 Pied Wagtail were on building roofs in Sowerby Bridge centre on Saturday as it came dusk.
Just checked my yearly species list for Calderdale and this is my 1st Snipe sighting - can you believe it!
Bring me to a miserly 110 different bird species seen in Calderdale this year.
Jokes.
