I had a dental appointment early on today.
Only trouble was I could not open my driver's side car door with the hard frost.
'Fortunately' the other door, next to the hedge, opened with a bit of a grunt (from me) and I made it to the tooth guy with 5 mins to spare.
Afterwards , Sue had to visit some Halifax shops and I had a scout around looking at berry trees near Screwfix, The Range and Home Bargains.
After lunch I had my 'usual' exercise walk along the fields past Crabtree Hall Farm, up 'the grunt' along Ned Hill Track up and over Soil Hill apex, home via Taylor Lane etc.
Taylor Lane is a frozen nightmare.
I had to walk down it by keeping to the narrow grass verge, old gimmer that I am!
As I was at the top of the lane, two cars did pass me going down but .... 2 minutes later they passed again - coming back up!
Good to chat to David who lives at the Koi Karp farm.
Plenty of tales of car prangs on Taylor Lane and Percy Road, from David!
Birds (or lack thereof).
Garden: Kestrel.
Halifax: Blackbirds and Peregrine Falcon.
Bradshaw - Soil Hill Walk:
Probably left it too late to find owt on Soil Hill today.
39 Canada Geese.
2 Stock Dove.
2 Pheasant.
2 Mistle Thrush.
c20 Common Gull.
A few Black Headed Gull with a few Large Gulls overhead.
A few other common species but not many!
Getting dark as I approached home.
A magic sighting at Cromwell NR by Kirsty this morning of a Bittern.
BITTERN reminded me of Soil Hill today (bart the 'N') .
