A damp misty start to the day but by 9:30 ish it looked like Soil Hill might be free of mist and ok for a visit.
It was pretty murky for a while but it did try to brighten up and the outing was quite enjoyable.
It was good to chat with Ogden Lane farmer Geoff who stopped in his tractor on Taylor Lane.
I was hoping to see a Snipe species , and I did have a wander down to the bottom of the north slope but not any further.
This got the lungs going but no "Wesley" met me down there.
However the outing did add a couple of ticks to this years infinitesimal bird list.
DJB and HC were waving nicely ( well I hope it was nicely ) to me from Percy Road as I walked up Soil Hill main track - their birding up here done for the day.
Only a small camera with me today.
After a later lunch I had a dismally wet stroll up the local fields.
I did get a Green Woodpecker which made it worthwhile.
