Raggalds Flood and Harrogate Red Kites

I had a walk up the road to check Raggalds Flood this morning.

A strong-ish sharp E or NE wind was blowing up there making it feel below freezing.

The water was mostly frozen ,with a few bits of water appearing with Gulls floating on it.

I carried on up Percy Rd and enjoyed a chat to Percy Rd Ken, and then I went down Taylor Lane home.

Not too cold if you kept moving and out of the wind a pleasant enough outing but very very few birds seen.

This afternoon we had a drive out to Harrogate and back to pick up 3 large boxes of Seville oranges for Sue to start this year's Marmalade marathon.

No birding time here, just there and back, but I did get to see the Red Kites.

Some great colours in the evening sky on the way home.

Birds:

3 Lapwing, c45 Small Gulls on the flood.

For some reason all the flood birds flushed as soon as I got there  (no Raptor seen) - some Gulls returned the Lapwing not.

2 Herring Gulls on top of the fields above Wilsden Road on our way to Harrogate.

C14 Red Kite seen (mostly from the car) - the photos are poor.
