A dull quiet morning , mild, as I walked up Bradshaw Lane to check out the flood.
50 yds past DJB's place I heard a Raven calling then DJB called to let me know there was a Raven heading over my house > W - Cheers Daniel.
After a butcher's hook at the flood I went up Percy Rd to, and through, the top corner wall stile to follow the field path past Soil Hill quarry, over the summit path, down and along Ned Hill track and back home via Taylor Lane.
A bits and pieces sort of outing - very January-esque.
Abi with us yesterday evening and today but lucky for me Sue was taking her and her chum to adrenaline trampolining place at Heckmondwike so I had a free afternoon.
I had a drive down to Coley, St. John's Church and enjoyed a walk down the bridleway to near Priestley Green.
First up was a really noise huge group of Jackdaw in the fields to my right soon followed by a second large group in the fields to my left - c400 birds! but see below.
The return was via a very boggy field but a Grey Wagtail was feeding in the flooded bit, so that was a bonus.
It seemed to get a tad cooler this afternoon as I sky gazed hoping to see the Pinkies picked up first by JM over Jay House > WNW and later picked up by AC over Northowram - I failed to eyeball them. They probably went north of my vantage point.

Coley Area:
I thought there were C400 Jackdaw in total here initially but looking at the photo which shows 340 at a rough count and is about 50% of the birds seen the figure is neared 600.
6 Redwing, Grey Wagtail.
c10 Herring Gull - remained distant as I looked for a YLG in among.
Common and Black Headed Gull.
Chaffinch, Gt Tit, Blue Tit, Long Tailed Tit.
I was hoping for a Woodpecker or two but none seen (or heard).
