A bright-ish morning in Bradshaw with mist seen from the garden over Halifax as we legged it down the lane to catch a bus to Halifax and a second bus to Todmorden.
Quite misty in Todmorden where we popped into Spoons for a Coffee and a breakfast bap.
It was 11:35 when we picked up the canal at Tod. to head off towards Hebden Bridge.
We had breather on a bench in the Hebden Bridge square before continuing on the canal to the Blue Teapot at Mytholmroyd for a coffee and a bun thingy.
We would probably have ended the walk at Sowerby Bridge but heavy rain sent us to the bus shelter at Luddenden Foot where the next bus was cancelled but somehow came along 15 mins late after 'an incident'.
Birds:
(Just a small camera with me to keep the weight to a minimum).
(I probably should carry a big camera and ditch the café stops - but hey I'm only human).
Just out of Tod - Great Spotted Woodpecker (heard drumming).
Unusually quiet drumming (for me any how) could possibly be a consequence of whatever it was drumming on?
Much later Green Woodpecker (heard calling).
4 Singing Song Thrush (heard).
10 Goosander (4 Males). One caught a fish!
Nuthatch (heard).
2 Cormorant.
C10 Pied Wagtail at Eastwood Water Treatment works were hard to see - could be more!
5 Moorhen.
Canada Goose.
Black Headed Gull.
Common Gull.
Grey Wagtail.
5 Heron (4 Guarding 4 nests plus 1 in flight).
A flock of c30 distant Thrush - Redwing / Fieldfare ??
Plenty of Jackdaw.
Muscovy (Hybrid Type ) Duck - both M and F.
13 Gulls overhead.
3 Redwing seen on Bradshaw Lane early on.
Nothing special alas but that's life.
