Filey - November weather at the end of May!!!

We took Abi to her favourite seaside resort - Filey - during her school hols this week.

The weather was utterly diabolical with very cold gale force winds and torrential downpours most days.

Back home now (Saturday 7pm and of course the sun is shining).

It was difficult for this old giffer to sleep with the heavy rain pinging off the van roof and bits of branches joining in the fun.

Abi, of course, slept like Rip Van Winkle.... " RIP van winkle" could also describe the state of the motorhome's roof after the storms.

Anyway, we did get out and about around town where I managed to get 3 books , by a favourite author of mine, at Wrays bookshop on the cheap.

Abi bought some BIG LEGO tank , spaceship, digger things to assemble.

Which she managed with ease.. I would not know where to start.

Birding was a bit hit and miss with holiday commitments taking preference.

Friday morning I had a dodgy gale force walk along Carr Naze to gaze down at the waves breaking over Filey Brigg Rocks.

Birds:-

Kestrel, Pied Wagtail.

Goosander in Filey Bay that I hoped was a Diver species - unusual here???

Eider Duck, Common Scoter.

Razorbill, Guillemot, Puffin.

Fulmar, Herring Gull, Kittiwake, Gannet.

Linnet, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Stonechat.

Sand Martins zooming over the caravan site 2" off the ground looking for food.

Swallow, Swift, Mallard.

A small flock of Terns way off over the sea looked very Sandwich Types to me.

Cormorant, Shag,

Seal.
