On the buses - and a touch of chaos

This morning we caught the 526 Bradshaw bus to Halifax.

All was well, until we neared the bus station.

Although the 526 doesn't use the bus station we were stuck in traffic here , where 8 other buses could be seen struggling.

Our lady bus driver was none too happy.

Some major improvements are being made in the Halifax Town centre area - I believe this is day one of 14 months - and "temporary" traffic lights have replaced those at the large crossroads by the old Bingo Building and Percy Shaw complex.

The original traffic lights have been removed by the looks of it.

We had intended to catch a bus to Sowerby Bridge , walk along the canal path to Hebden Bridge then catch a bus back to Halifax.

Our 1st Sowerby Bridge bus disappeared off the info screen in Georges Square after promising to arrive shortly.

The 2nd bus changed its ETA a couple of times, presumably caused by the traffic light problems.

Anyway, we did our walk to Hebden but opted for the K3 bus from Hebden (towards Keighley) as far as Crossroads then catching the 502 Keighley to Halifax bus as far Bradshaw Church.

(There is more than one was of  killing a cat than choking it with cream).

As were waiting , earlier, for the K3 in Hebden Bridge the Huddersfield bus ,(that was at the same stop) refused to go -

engin' failure I thought ( I'm quite bright on a good day).

With the next Huddersfield bus an hour away and a mechanic on his way from Bradford - the passengers left the bus  and wandered off.

Our K3 duly arrived and we enjoyed a lovely picturesque journey over the moors through Oxenhope - thankful that our bus was road worthy 😀.

Our bus stopped at Haworth and the engine petered out - splut.

A few more splut spluts and it started again , then, it stopped, splut.

Then a few more splut spluts and it started and moved forward.

We only had a mile to go to Crossroads so we crossed our fingers and our bus  made it there.

As the bus left Crossroads , it took with it,  some impressive black smoke.

I hope it made it to Keighley bus station.

The motto of the day is "Be careful when you look smug at another's broken down bus... ....your breakdown is only a heartbeat away. "

Cool breeze, sun and some rain today - not a lot happening bird wise.

Birds:-

Just a small camera with me today.

Great Spotted Woodpecker (heard).

House Martin near Brearley.

No Sand Martins seen as we passed Brearley wetlands.

Grey Wagtail (poss. 2).

Heron.

Treecreeper.

While waiting at Crossroads for the bus it was pleasing to see c10

House Martin zipping about overhead - also a distant Buzzard seen.

and ...

A Large Raptor (?) that I've found in one of the Crossroads photos.

No Idea what I've got here??
