Todmorden to Hebden Bridge

A late start to proceedings today, waiting for the weather to improve.

After lunch we caught the Bradshaw bus to Halifax, followed by the Rochdale bus to Todmorden.

It took forever with load of road works.

We had an enjoyable walk along the canal from Todmorden to Hebden Bridge, arriving at Hebden Bridge at 5:30pm.

Sue fancied a pizza for tea and we found a real gem of a pizza joint where you can choose to sit in or out while your pizza is had made and you have a choice of two bars for a pint.

Very, very enjoyable and a bun shop which was just closing caught our eye for pud!

We caught a bus back to Halifax and normally we have a choice of 3 or 4 buses to get us to Illingworth to walk home to Bradshaw.

It seems everything changes at 7pm and we had a choice of one bus and an hour to wait for it.

We opted for an earlier 576 Queensbury bus and then to walk up Roper Lane.

At the top of Roper Lane, there is (was) a great path near Shugden Barn that leads directly down the fields side (west) to exit at the very bottom of the Bonnet (The old Bradshaw Terminus area) of Bradshaw Lane.

The path however is no longer usable with the wall built up and a massive stack of high nettles there.

Undeterred we opted for a really good path through Shugden Farm that weaves through the old White Castle Brewery building to exit a lot higher up Bradshaw Lane.

Home at 8:40pm (just light).

Just a small camera with me today.

One April I started work as an apprentice plumber.

1st day on the job I was tasked with knocking a neat and tidy hole in the wall under a kitchen sink, to the outside.

I had finished the job and I was admiring my handiwork when an early Swallow flew past the kitchen window , as I asked the plumber for his opinion of my handiwork.

He too had seen the swallow flying past and with a wry smile said.

"One small hole does not a plumber make".
