Bradshaw - Ogden - Soil Hill - Bradshaw

Another half decent birding outing today but 'ticks' are proving elusive.

The weather was extremely kind (if you ignore the strong northerly wind) today after the recent deluge.

I went across the fields to Ogden, around the water (after the obligatory coffee and Kit-Kat in the café there) .

Home was via The Grunt (Ned Hill Lane), Soil Hill main path and Taylor Lane.

Birds:-

Bradshaw Fields:

(Fox).

Wren, Meadow Pipit.

Linnet.

6 birds on a wire were also probably Linnet.

C30 Canada Geese (rest obscured by a wall).

Pheasant.

2 Red Legged Partridge (went behind a wall immediately).

Ogden Water Area:

c90 Gulls (I didn't eyeball anything special).

2 Goosander,

1 Great Spotted Woodpecker (heard very near).

6 or so Chaffinch.

Kestrel (I think - high over Soil Hill seen from Syke Lane).

Soil Hill.

A very Large bird - probably a Gull very, very distant over TMR reservoir.

(Pictures are rubbish at this distance).

6 Goldfinch.

Meadow Pipit.

A Snipe flushed from just before the mast - up up and away.

A cracking Wheatear ran across the path just after the mast then popped up on a wall.

Taylor Lane.

A Wheatear was in the ploughed field (again).

Little Owl.
