Local Fields (Mostly)

A very sad day today with a funeral to attend which seemed to occupy most of the day in one way or another,

I managed a very short sky watch from the garden this morning with a few bits seen but all terribly distant, south of me over Halifax somewhere.

Some Crows were making a right old racket for a good while, from the large trees opposite our house.

A bird call that I could not ID and that was too distant for my -Merlin- app to pick up  seemed to be the cause of the commotion.

The call sounded , periodically, like a muffled road drill followed by a hen-like slow cluck!!

It was not the usual Magpie call but somehow I'm thinking that is what it must have been.

A large 'potential' Raptor was way off but at this distance, was a dot!

After tea(ish) I had a walk along the local field path, breezy cool but dry and bright.
