Bradshaw Fields

An awful day weather wise today with gales and heavy rain with the odd dry interlude.

Late on in the afternoon I decided to risk a walk up the local fields.

Light drizzle blown along was not too bad with the odd dry bit but this changed near dark when a BIG heavy COLD  shower that gave me a pummelling included some sleety stuff.

One benefit was that given the lack of birds today,  it will not take long to update my new  2025 birding list(s)!

Abi and a friend  coming to sleep over tomorrow... batten down the hatches!

Birds:-

6 Red Legged Partridge.

2 Mallard.

Magpie, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw.

Blackbird.

4 Pheasant.

6 Woodpigeon.

2 Stock Dove.

3 Bullfinch.

1 Black Headed Gull.

1 Common Gull.

4 Mistle Thrush (Together with Blackbird going bananas in a Conifer - I scanned the area hoping for an Owl, maybe, but saw nowt!).

Goldfinch.

A Stonechat made the outing worthwhile.

4 Meadow Pipit.

A Fox was on the hillside.

The 'Mystic Meg" in me tells me that this years' mega bird will be:-

Maybe I like Pine Grosbeak because you can get the word Soaking out of it's letters, which kinda fits with todays weather.

Wishing you a Happy New Year and.............

May your favourite glass bounce , and not break, when  you drop it doing the washing up!
