Cromwell Bottom / Soil Hill (A couple of Goodies)

Sue went to visit her old boss at Elland late morning and kindly dropped me off on Elland Bridge (not over it!).

I enjoyed a pleasant walk in the sunshine along the canal - river - canal finishing at Avocet Works.

Cool to start , warm to finish.

After lunch I had a very quick look at Soil Hill top going there via Taylor Lane. I just kept to the very top with little time available.

Warm and pleasant on The Hill with Skylark and Meadow Pipit singing and calling.

Birds:-

Cromwell Bottom etc.

Male Blackcap (1st this spring).

17 Chiffchaff counted!

1 Mute Swan.

Distant Peregrine Falcon.

5 Cormorant.

Jay. Bullfinch.

Buzzard.

4 Heron.

Great Spotted Woodpecker (drumming).

Song Thrush. Nuthatch.

Moorhen. Coot. Little Grebe on the Lagoon.

The bit of the visible ski lake was quiet..

5 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

A few Large Gulls high overhead.

1 Tufted Duck.

and 2 of the Heron mentioned above was about it.

A few other  common species also.

Soil Hill Walk.

Wheatear (Taylor Lane - 1st this spring).

2 Buzzard.

c10 Meadow Pipit.

4 Skylark.

4 Mallard.

1 Lapwing.

A few Curlew calls heard from Ogden direction.

Not a lot else.

Mistle Thrush in the garden late on.









Heard it singing.
Got it on Merlin.
Got it in the bins.
Fired a photo.
There is a Blackcap in here.
But I cannot see it!
I Probably did the wrong sequence of events??
