On the bus in the wrong 'gear' (a.m.)/ Bradshaw Fields (p.m.)

A stonking hot day (after all the cooler days) led us to take the (15 mins late) 526 bus from Bradshaw to Shelf to walk the Calderdale Way into Brighouse.

Getting off the bus at Shelf I realised I'd dropped at least 3 clangers.

1. Wearing the wrong gear.

2. Carrying a large (by my standards anyway) camera.

3. Carrying heavy bins.

Very soon  after we had set off, my rucksack was looking like a Farther Christmas sack just before delivery of his 1st present.

Made it to Baliff Bridge and caught the bus into Brighouse - soft sod what I am.

A Coffee and T Cake and then 2 Buses back to Pavement Lane and a walk home completed a very hot outing.

Later on I had a very interesting bog hop to Ned Hill Road and back.

A Linnet called as it flew over (unseen alas).

2 Curlew were in the horse field - a good bird for here - a bit more 'common' on the moors if you can use the word common and Curlew in the same sentence!

A Red Kite flew high above towards Soil Hill which again is scarce here but 'common' nearer Leeds perhaps.

A welcome 'tick' for 2025.

c50 Woodpigeon and c60 Jackdaws in the fields also.

Birds:-

2 Curlew.

Red Kite.

Stonechat.

Little Owl.

Stock Doves.

2 Meadow Pipit.

Greenfinch, Goldfinch.

2 Mallard.
