A bit of a risk trying to use several buses on a Sunday - but we gave it a go.
Guff:
We left home at 10:20 and arrived back at 17:00 pooped.
We caught the Keighley bus from Bradshaw to Cross Roads intending to walk down to Haworth and along the stream into Oxenhope but luck was with us as we just connected with the Hebden Bridge bus as it came out of Keighley to meet us at Cross Roads.
Our walk from Hebden Bridge passed along the canal as far as the builders yard (just below the railway station ) and onto an absolutely cracking footpath that runs unerringly for ages.
Eventually we left the path to rejoin the canal, about 2 miles short of Sowerby Bridge.
At Sowerby Bridge we were tempted to have a drink in spoons but a look at the bus times gave the 'vague' impression that a bus was due soon.
A bus came after a while and it went through Copley and up past the hospital and along Huddersfield Road a bit of a convoluted journey - but we were sat down so not bothered!
As we waited for this bus to negotiate the many traffic lights around the Halifax Bus Station, we noticed TWO buses in bays that would take us near home - both with their brake lights on - and both left before we got parked up. Boohoo.
However, the 502 saved the day arriving after a 20 minute wait - not bad for a Sunday eh?
Birds:
A really interesting walk and quite a long walk for us these days went by really quickly until we got back on the canal.
Some good birds on offer.
Greylag Geese seen from the bus from Oxenhope as we approached Hebden Bridge.
6 Pied Wagtail.
4 Heron sitting on nests - but viewing difficult.
2 Chiffchaff my 1st this year.
Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Pheasant.
4 Nuthatch.
Treecreeper.
2m 2f Goosander.
Dipper.
2 Kingfisher.
Buzzard.
Pity - only able to manage a small camera on these longer walks.
I received a text from B.S. of Whoopers on Ogden (while we were on the bus at Copley) but I was too pooped, by the time we got in home at Bradshaw, to go out again - but thanks Bri,
