"Confined to barracks" mostly , since my last posting but ......
Today I had a couple of hours birding out and about.
Taylor Lane - Soil Hill Top - Ned Hill Track - Crabtree Hall Farm Track - Home.
Quite a pleasant outing with little wind and some sunshine with a bit of warmth on the hill.
Dry, Dry, Dry for ages now...
Along Soil Hill main track, a small reed strewn pool still retains some water and as I approached it a few bathing birds flushed from it and landed in the nearby bushes...
These included a wet looking Meadow Pipit, 3 Linnet and a Whinchat.
(Amazingly I had a Whinchat on the 8th May last year along Bradshaw fields) .
The Whinchat was very 'flighty' ho ho ho but I got some ( pretty rubbish ) photos of it.
Birds:-
Whinchat, 4 Whitethroat, 3 Skylark, 7 Linnet, 4 Willow Warbler, 3 Meadow Pipit, Chiffchaff.
and quite a few 'usual' species.
(A few Buzzard sightings from the garden and a Heron fly past recently also.)
(2nd May a Tawny Owl was heard in the Bradshaw night).
