Fly Flatts

I had a run out to Fly Flatts after lunch today.

I walked the Oxenhope end public footpath to the waterboard no go sign , while Sue sat in a sunny car reading.

Very calm for the most part with some sunshine and broken cloud.

The good bit....

Some decent birds on offer but they were distant and it was awkward to get any half decent photos today.

The not so good bits.....

Crows:

Crows seem to be a real pain.

Curlews were wrestling with 'em.

Lapwings were dive bombing 'em.

Redshank were being scared off by 'em.

Flies:

Apart from a breezy 2 minutes I was bombarded by swarms of locust.

Ok they weren't locusts but they were anoying.

Dogs:

As I was leaving 8 dogs came bounding down from the road side kissing gate, yapping and barking - a bit off putting when you are a soft sod like what I am.

(A dog walkers van was parked by the gate).

Not great for the birds either I guess.

Birds:-

Numbers were difficult with lots of movement so these are rough estimates!

4 Curlew.

Lapwings

At least 3 Dunlin.

4 Redstart.

2 Common Sandpiper.

2 Greylag Geese.

Canada Geese.

Meadow Pippit.

Mallard with Ducklings.

A few distant Large Gulls.

The local fields have been mega quiet these last couple of days
