(No birding chat left in these paragraphs overnight).
On the buses to Skipton today.
We caught the 9.07 a.m. bus (paying!) to Keighley followed after a short wait, the Skipton bus.
"We" enjoyed some shopping having a good nosy about.
We had a short rest and elevenses at the church cafe at the top of the main street.
We intended to have lunch at Spoons here but we were not hungry when lunchtime arrived.
Instead we opted to have lunch in Keighley Spoons, later.
Soon, we headed off to Skipton bus station to get our Keighley bus.
Our bus had other ideas... it arrived 20 minutes late and then cancelled itself by going "out of service"!
I could swear, that the Ilkley bus , that was waiting in the next bay was grinning at us... so we caught this bus.
( More than one way to.... whatever).
Talking to this bus driver we found out that he changed his bus number at Ilkley and continued on to Keighley.
ok .. we thought.... Spoons at Keighley for "lunch" then.
Arriving at Keighley we noticed passengers were boarding the soon to leave, 502 Halifax bus.
We abandoned Spoons and opted to get nearer home.... feeling most smug having got "3" buses in quick succession.
At Manywells Brow , Cullingworth we met a long, long line of traffic.
Soon a fire engine thundered past, followed by an ambulance, a bad omen.
After moving forward very little it transpired that a nasty car accident had closed the road and Police tape was stopping all traffic.
Cars began to turn around but the bus was kiboshed really.
We got off the bus and decided to walk home!
The very S.M.U.G feeling evaporating nearly as quick as the sweat on my brow formed.
All was not lost though, as we called at Kelham farm shop, where the smallest ice cream pack on sale was 4 Snickers.
With 2 Snickers ice creams in me belly the trudge along Denholme Gate road was bearable.
The downside is I'm too fatigued to go up the back fields this evening!!
