Ringstone Reservoir

After having my ears lowered , we had a visit to make to Sowerby Bridge this morning and I took the chance to visit Ringstone Reservoir, Barkisland.

Barkisland Post Office provided the lunch - a toasted currant T cake and a yoghurt - kept away from the delicious pies today!

It was nice to chat to Pete G who was at the reservoir, there scoping the joint.

A Yorkshire Water official was walking the west side kerbstones next to the water, so I gave my usual walk a miss today, thinking that he would have flushed owt along the west side.

My Merlin app reported a calling Arctic Tern - the call (if it was the same one) reminded me of a Great Spotted Woodpecker's call.

Later, after I played a pretty rubbish video of the same call,  taken here, Merlin reported a Grey Partridge?

Probably the right time for a migrating Arctic Tern although the call was coming from the north side trees.

Half decent photos were difficult to get today and looking through them I've dragged a couple out for your perusal.

I think one is probably a Common Gull and the other one is probably a Black Headed Gull although it looks to be very white and might just be a Med, Gull - clutching at straw's again!!

Birds:-

3 Cormorant.

3 Tufted Duck.

Canada Geese.

2 Great Crested Grebe.

c6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

c60 Black Headed Gull.

Possibly 1 Common Gull.

Juv. Moorhen.

Swallows.

Lapwing.

Mallard.

Common Gull (possibly) with a Black Headed Gull

2 Photos above of the same Gull.
Probably a Black Headed Gull.
With the white contrast on the wings.
