Ruth and Bronwen called to see Sue, this afternoon and I snuck off (I'm turning America) to walk along the fields to Ned Hill Road bottom and back.
Hot and humid this afternoon so I was not expecting a lot and my expectations were matched in reality - alas.
This morning as I went out to the wheelie bin, I heard a bird call that I did not recognise, the call was repeated a few times as it moved away , allowing me enough time me to use my Merlin phone app on it.
The app reported the call as a Greenshank. but I forgot to save the recording!
Anyway, I would not use the Merlin App, for such a Wader, to allow me a yearly "tick".
A short afternoon sky watch brought with it a Sparrowhawk that was highlighted by calling Swallows.
Late evening a Kestrel came over and the usual Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
Birds:-
Sparrowhawk
c10 Swallow.
Little Owl.
Willow warbler.
Whitethroat (still scolding from the same patch).
2 Pheasant.
2 Kestrel.
