Garden Sky-Watch & Ringstone Reservoir

A short garden sky-watch this morning was instigated by reports of Pink Footed Geese moving east.

I was fortunate enough to see 3 skeins of Pinkies way off to the south of me > East.

The first 2 skeins I manged to get a poor photo but the 3rd skein eluded the camera.

The skeins were soon gobbled up in the thick cloud though.

Around lunchtime I had my ' seemingly obligatory birding fix' with a drive out to Ringstone Reservoir at Barkisland.

Today I did not sit and scoff my butties having stopped at Skircoat cafe for a small breakfast at lunchtime.

On arrival at Ringstone the light was poor and a small flock of Ducks were seen in the middle-ish of the water.

I took a few distant, poor photos in case they left before walking along the west side wall to try and get a better view of the birds.

A bit further along the wall another small flock of Ducks were seen at the NE-ish end.

Again the light was poor but I did managed a few half decent photos.

Later I had a look see from the east side wall where I picked out a Shoveler among the Wigeon.

It was good to chat to GS (who I had not met before).

He was scoping from the east side road parking area.

It was pleasing to get some decent Wildfowl for a change.

Birds:-

Pink Footed Geese.

Estimates from poor photos.
