It was a beautiful sunny, crisp day today with little wind.
I decided to have a look at the " Giant's Tooth' at Ogden via the usual fields and farm tracks.
After a circuit of Ogden Water and a refresher in the visitors centre , there, I headed up to check out the conifers and moorland just below the wind farm.
I was hoping for a "X Bill" but apart from a calling Red Grouse and lovely views, there was very little up there.
Great exercise (but don't mention it to my left hip!).
After returning to Ogden Water I enjoyed a flapjack and Cheese & Onion crisps for lunch in the visitors centre, having no sarnies in my pack today.
I enjoyed a good natter with volunteers Pat & Steve and a few visitors as we sat around having a coffee, putting the world to rights.
I headed off home along the same route as coming.
(Some) Birds:-
The walk to Ogden was very pleasing with lots of bird calls and a few decent sightings which was good because Ogden Water was very full and very quiet again.
33 Bird species seen today, which for me in November is pretty good.
2 Green Woodpecker (maybe 3).
1 Great Spotted Woodpecker ( maybe 2).
6 Greenfinch. 4 Meadow Pipit.
3 Bullfinch. Kestrel. Pied Wagtail.
4 Stock Dove.
1 Goosander. 3 Nuthatch.
Red Grouse.
A bit of an odd looking Gull (below) - Second Winter Common Gull I believe.
It's a great spot up there at the G T, John. Always a chance of an interesting flyover.
