A very long outing on a very pleasant day for October.
I think I overdid it a bit today - I'm feeling my years - I'm over thirty now you know and today I'm definitely over "The Hill" - ho ho ho.
I went up Taylor Lane and around Soil Hill Top.
As I was just about to leave DJS called me - he was behind me on the hill.
That makes sense as it's approaching Panto time "He's Behind You".
Anyway, I went back over the hill to join him and we had very enjoyable couple of hours up here.
Things started very slowly with very few birds seen but in the end we actually did quite well,
When DJS left I went down to Ogden Water to have a needed coffee and a Twix before doing a circuit of a very busy Ogden Water.
After a second hot drink I opted to have some poor grub for lunch, rather than go home, so I had a packet of crisps and a Kit-Kat - diet tomorrow.
I was hoping to catch up with The Chaffinch flock so I did a second slow circuit of the water.
I did get a flock of about 20 Chaffinch along the west side, but with the large amount of foot traffic they were very high in the trees, with just the odd bird within bins range in the side bushes - no Brambling alas.
Home was via a very quiet farm track through the Crabtree Hall Farm ruins.
As I was cleaning my boots 6 large white birds flew east-ish towards Queensbury, by the time I had got my camera they had gone. I put them on the WhatsApp group just in case anyone was in the area and could put me out of my misery.
