West Vale – Norland Moor – Barkisland – Ripponden – Soyland – Mill Bank.

10.30 – 15:00

The 539 bus took us to West Vale today to follow the Caldedale Way for a good few miles.
The woods from West Vale to Norland Moor were full of bird song on a bright sunny morning. Wren, L.T.T. Blue Tit Great Tit and Chaffinch were all seeking attention.

On the outskirts of the wood c20 Redwing were feeding in a field and a Jay was screaming.

At Ripponden we had a 15 min break at Fleece for a well earned refresher.

Looking at the Yellow Bike - The Bridge Inn at Ripponden is looking forward to Le Tour

From Ripponden to Mill Bank:-

Greenfinch, Robin c30 Jackdaw and the usual crows.
GSW was heard but not seen.
A solitary Common Gull was in a field with C30 rooks and a couple of M. Mallard was on the Mill Bank pond. A Dunnock and Coal Tit were also nearby.
.
The walk ended at the Alma Inn with a 30 Min. stop until the bus arrived.

Back home it was coming dusk and a couple of Mistle Thrush were preening themselves in the tree opposite the house and C10 Canada Goose were coming in to land on the ponds below.

Nothing special bird wise to-day but a lovely walk.
