Ogden – The Sting.

13:30 – 15:00

Granddaughter day so a quick outing around Ogden.

A hot sultry day.

A decent start to the walk with 3 Cormorant spotted on the water and an adult GCG and the Juv. GCG.

Things went downhill very soon, when on a quick stroll towards the golf club, a nasty insect with enormous sticky-out teeth and an even nastier demeanour decided to fly up the sleeve of my tee-shirt. Without a map showing it the way to get back  out, it decided upon warfare. A few stings later though and I had sent it packing to the insect graveyard in the sky.

Back at the water I spotted only the usual gulls and no waders (but see NK blog today for a far better report).

Other birds:- Swallow, Mistle Thrush, Chiffchaff, Coal tit, Dunnock.

Feeling a bit sore and with storm clouds massing I sent for the cavalry (the wife and granddaughter) and high-tailed it out of there.
Just as well 10 mins later Bradshaw Lane turned brown with a river running down it!

Pics:-

Shy Dunnock - clutching at straws this aft.

  1. I dont think my report is better, just different as in what a difference an hour or so can make.
