Bradshaw – Scholes – Station Road.

10:30 -12:30
After a long fight with blogger!!!

A very wet yomp with Goldfinch & more Goldfinch this morning!
The usual amble from home to the Queensbury Play Gym.
Very misty with  heavy drizzle at the Raggalds and no juice in the Raggalds Flood.
13 Goldfinch on the wire opposite the Raggalds Pub then just Robin, Collard Dove & Woodpigeon bothering to play out in the rain going down Lowe Lane.
On the bridleway at the back of the Junction Inn a Wren & 6 LBBG (I think - Hoping for Herring Gull ) feeding in the fields. These soon hightailed it when the camera came out. Also in the fields here, 6 Canada Geese.
Lower down towards the cycle track c100 Goldfinch (if the bunch that flew away were all Goldfinch) feeding on the thistles  and in the fields– see photo.
On the old railway line the rain kept things quiet with just a couple of Starlings flying over.
A GSW heard but not seen here and 21 BHG in the far fields near the big red chimney.
3 Swallow and a nice surprise (for me anyway) a pr. Jay in the cycle track trees.
A wet trog to the tunnel entrance revealed just a few Great Tit & Chaffinch with a few unid. smaller birds high in the trees.
A damp plod up the steep Station Road to the play gym to get a cuppa and dry out a bit.
A bit of a poor day, but given the weather no surprise.
A few photos but most pretty crap because of the murk and distance involved.

A poor shot but and indication of the number of Goldfinch on the thistles

Goldfinch leaving the thistles

Today's post - how to open a gate.

Desperate or what? an escaping Jay
