A quiet time on Soil Hill

After a morning of being painter’s labourer I had an hours walk up and around Soil Hill this aft.

Very cool in the shade and hot in the sunshine (the weather – not me).
I had a silent creep about along the main track and around the contour footpath in the hope of relocating the Snipe, but, as expected didn’t.

The top was completely bereft of birds until 5 Meadow Pipit took pity on me.

There was not much else at all really but it was a nice place to be if you like a calm serene atmosphere.
There were perhaps as many as 30 Goldfinch on the north end, Ned Hill track thistles – it’s difficult to estimate the number unless the birds are spooked.

Also about 3 BHG, 2 Wren, 1 Common Gull, and a hovering Kestrel that played jump to the next telegraph pole for a while.

Not much, I know, but a lot better than painting the lounge, like Sue was!!
(It’s a shame I’m such a poor D.I.Y’er).

It’s been a quiet time of late but our time will come –
I’ve high hopes for this coming week.
