Jack Snipe

Following yesterday's blog reporting a Common Snipe on Soil Hill.
I have reconsidered my initial thinking and now believe that the bird was a Jack Snipe.
The bird that I flushed , looked quite small and angular and left without a call, when I was almost upon it.
It flew low zig-zagging and landed maybe 30 metres away.
Possibly a migrant?

Today :- 10 Pied Wagtail were feeding on a misty Bradshaw bowling green as I sauntered to the paper shop.

  2. Quite early in the autumn for Jack Snipe I think, but it might stay awhile and be seen again.
