It was a beautiful sunny morning and after
Sue had had an unexpected visit to the dentist, we decided on a stroll at
Bolton Abbey to see the trees in their autumn regalia.
As we passed through Denholme our bright
sunshine turned hazy before becoming a real pea souper.
Arriving at Bolton Abbey the fog was bad
so we continued on to Burnsall.
After a cuppa in the cafe we noticed that the fog had taken a
hike,so we did as well.
We had a really enjoyable stroll on the
river Wharf towards Grassington and back, mostly in glorious sunshine , with
the F word making a comeback late into the second half.
This stretch of river really takes some
beating.
The journey home was unpleasant with the
fog becoming quite dense.
(It looks like the local patch was coming
up trumps as well - see N.K.'s blog).
Birds:-
6 Nuthatch, 3 Dipper, 2 Goosander,
Pheasant, Goldfinch, Robin.
Fieldfare, Redwing and Mistle Thrush were
very active in the trees , on one section of the river, but it was difficult to
put numbers to them.
A corking "naked eye" spot by Sue
of a well camouflaged Kingfisher, was the highlight of the outing.
Also about , 6 or so Long Tailed Tit,
plenty of Jackdaw and Rooks.
No Brambling seen alas.
View towards Halifax from the bedroom window this morning
Geese (Canada alas) going past the house this morning
All together now
"OH! GIVE ME A HOME WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM"
They flock to hear him sing you know
It's sheer delight
Kingfisher in the gloom
Goosander busy diving
That reminds me - I need a hair cut
