Oats Royd

13:00 – 14:15

It was cleaning day today so after a busy morning vaccking about I attached the fog lights to me boots and went off down to Oats Royd.
I was not expecting much with the ‘thick mist’ and, although nothing extraordinary appeared out of the ‘grey’ I was fairly happy with my walk about.
(Well done to Dave W. for braving Soil Hill this morning).

Birds:

12 Small gulls were in the fields roughly 50/50, Common & BHG.
Pied Wagtail, Moorhen, 1F 2 M Bullfinch, Grey Heron, M. Pheasant.
2 Mistle Thrush, high in the trees towards Roper Lane, having a barney – 2nd pair of M.T. I’ve seen of late unhappy with each others presence.

Dunnock, Wren, at least 6 Long Tailed Tit, poss. 2 Goldcrest – heard but not seen. 2 Woodpigeon,  Plenty of Jackdaw,  Kestrel.

Fieldfare high  & up far away in the gloom in the trees at Bradshaw Park.

Pool/snooker this evening - I fared a little better last week, than the week previously.

  1. Nice one spotting the fieldfare John, thought u might have braved it again up soil hill with a bit of owl watching. I'm going through a depression stage with decorating blues, be glad when it's finished I might be able to get out and about again.

  2. Nice to hear from you.

I'm very fortunate Dave , Sue is great at decorating and she won't let me near a paint brush - just sandpaper and filler for me.

Everytime I go searching S.H. for a megga it ends it tears.
The only success was the Ring Ousel I got on a fence post next to the path (after seeing you hit & bothered one day - remember?).
Please let ne know when you come Owl watching and I'll sit on the hill top.

    Hope the decirating goes well.

    Regards.
    John
