Bolton Abbey in the rain

We had a drive out to Bolton Abbey today.

It was another poor day, weather wise, and the Bolton Abbey birds were noticeable by their absence. Even Sue failed to find the Tawny Owl today.
There were very few birds on the fast flowing wharf with just the usual Mallards and one Goosander braving the conditions.

On the approach to Bolton Abbey the fields around Silsden were flooded and held several large flocks of small gulls, no doubt finding worms easier to come by in the sodden fields.

From the Cavandish Pavillion we crossed the wooden bridge and headed up the east side as far as Bolton Bridge before coming back on the other side of the Wharf.

Among a meagre few birds seen were Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Goldfinch and 5 Mandarin Duck.

At least the Raggalds Flood is keeping its water topped up.

Pool/Snooker this tea-time.
I'll settle for a repeat of last weeks performance:- 6 -  nil  but just won by one game in the end.
