I had a visit to Ogden again this morning and a run out to
Oxenhope.
The weather was dull but fine at first
turning wet and windy later.
Ogden 10:00 – 10:45
It was quiet on the water today with c200 small gulls with just 1
LBBG as far as I could tell.
1 Canada goose was with the Mallards.
A couple of ‘different looking’ ducks were bathing in the water
and I tried my best to turn them into Teal but it was wishful thinking - they were Mallard.
Cormorant. C50 Chaffinch with a large contingent of Great Tit in
amongst.
A GSW was heard but never seen. A few Coal Tit and 3 Goldcrest were
about my lot today.
Leeshaw 11:15
I didn’t stay long at Leeshaw, just a quick look at the water
today.
There were C150 small gull sp. with a few Lapwing on the far shore. The
Lapwing soon left though.
1 LBBG as far as I could tell. Also a Cormorant.
A Kestrel was hunting over the fields as I left.
A Kestrel was hunting over the fields as I left.
Among the Mallard and Lapwing on the very limit of the camera’s
zoom I think are a couple of Widgeon, but I could be wrong.
Leeming 12:00
The rain and wind came along for company here.
Cormorant, c20 small gulls mainly BHG, Mallard, Pheasant, Kestrel,
M. Bullfinch, and Goldfinch.
As I was leaving the water on the path at the south end a duck
landed beyond the Mallards. Why are all the ‘interesting’ birds just too far
away to get a decent picture?
I think the duck is a Widgeon but the picture aint real good.
Ogden:
Interesting Mallards
Leeshaw:
Possible Leeshaw Widgeon.... far far away
Leeming:
Possible Leeming Widgeon
Nice one with the Wigeon John. Like the frosted glass shot.
ReplyDeleteBit of a rare duck this year.
Thanks Bri. for the confirmation of the Widgeon , I need a bigger camera but haven't got the muscles to carry it!
ReplyDeleteHoping for something special at Ogden soon.
