Soil Hill / Bingley St. Ives

Soil Hill 11:45 - 12:15

It’s the last day of February today, so spring is just around the corner?

I dropped some bird seed on the track and it was pleasing to see that the previous bird seed had been devoured by something.
Even if it's mice, that are taking the bird seed, they may entice some visitors in the long run.
I had just a short visit today and managed to beat B.S’s visit yesterday, but only by a short-head!
I was hoping for Snow Bunting but had to be content with 6 Skylark, 1 Kestrel a few Carrion Crow and c20 Woodpigeon.

We called at Stephen Smith's Garden Centre at Harden before enjoying a brief walk around St. Ives.
It was a dull, cold afternoon with the only bird movement confined to the pond and the feeders.

The usual birds were on the pond;Mallard, Canada Geese, Small Gulls, Mute Swan, 2 Mating Coot with a few others, Moorhen and 2 Tufted Duck.

We took a short stroll in the woodland where a Jay was seen and a Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard drumming.

Returning to the pond area there were Coal Tit and Nuthatch zooming about.
