The snow came thick and fast this morning,
eventually, when it gave up snowing, I shifted some of it, so Sue could get the
car out if needed, and after lunch I decided to put the boots on a take a
trudge up Soil Hill.
I was hoping for Snow Bunting but going to Soil Hill
today was not the wisest move I’ve ever made.
The going was not too bad going up the bridleway
opposite the house and you could see the tarmac on Taylor Lane and Perseverance
Road.
Soil Hill was being buffeted by a very strong gale
force NNW gale and quite cold.
I had intended to do a full hill job, but in the end
I just had a 20 minute walk about.
I shifted some snow off the big rocks and, watched
by 2 Carrion Crow, put put some birdseed on the rocks and on the walls.
The walk about resulted in some very good views over
Halifax and T.M.R. but no Snow Bunting or anything else was seen.
Apart from helping a taxi driver, on Perseverance Road, find his way to
Queensbury and me being photographed by some guy in a big black car (possibly the
top reporter for ‘Hello’), that was my Soil Hill outing!
The walk home via Perseverance Road, Raggalds Flood,
The Football Field,The Bonnet and Bradshaw Lane proved fruitless.
My birds today:-
4 Carrion Crow, 1 Starling
But tomorrow ................................... possibly A Robin!
Bradshaw Bridleway to Taylor Lane
Perseverance Road in very good condition considering the snow
Soil Hill track - without tracks

Today's bird species picture quiz - can you guess the bird from the picture?
Sorry but you have to stand on your head for the answer:-

Does it count as a patch tick or a lifer - not sure
Nice snow scenes
