Priestley Green Hipperholme / Coach Road Lightcliffe

I decided to leave the hill alone today, because of the strong wind, and so I took a trip through the Queensbury Car Park – formerly known as Brighouse and Denholme Gate Road - to the Hipperholme Area.

The wind was nearly as strong down here, with the large trees swaying about like Billyo;I found it tough going today. Whatever birds were about were keeping low out of the wind or flying low between the hedgerows not giving many photo opportunities.

Priestley Green 10:30 – 12:00

A couple of hours or so saunter around Priestley Green did not produce anything out of the ordinary I’m afraid.
Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Great & Blue Tit, Greenfinch, 3 Swallow – flying around high up, a calling Nuthatch and 2 Large Gulls a long way off (probably LBBG) was all I could muster hereabouts.

Coach Road 12:30 – 13:30

I tried my luck again hoping for Lesser Spotted Woodpecker but without any joy.
At one point I thought I was going to come away without sight nor sound of any type of Pecker, however I did hear and eventually pick-out a Great Spotted Woodpecker high in a tree.
A second GSW was also seen on a large truncated tree ‘stump’.
The stump had many a Woodpecker type hole drilled into it.

Just a calling Nuthatch, Calling Chiffchaff, Greenfinch and a few others were here for me today.

5 Ducks flew over the house as I was typing this, a rush outside to get a photo, revealed 4 Mallard and a White Duck Type ah well……

Some nice calm weather is on the way allegedly – hope it bring some warm sunshine with it.

A Couple of poor pics of the 2 large gulls with some pics cropped.

Remains of a Woodpigeon? Sparrowhawk Prey?

Mallards and a White Job over the house
